James lives locally and was approached to become a Trustee given his experience in governance with Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu, Ngai Tahu Property Group, Te Papa Tongarewa (Museum of New Zealand) among others. He has also been a Christchurch City Councillor. James has retired from being an almost-All Black (Shirley and New Brighton rugby) and looks forward to bringing back the Marshlands Hall, albeit in a different location with slightly different and augmented utility.
